Sergio Calderon Mexican actor known for his participation in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘Men in Black’, died this Wednesday at the age of 77.
Surrounded by his family, the actor lost his life in a Los Angeles hospital by natural causesreported The Hollywood Reporter.
Born on July 21, 1945 in Coatlán del Río, Morelos, Sergio Calderón dedicated himself from a young age to acting at the Andrés Soler Institute, located in Mexico City.
His screen debut was with ‘The Bridge in the Jungle’ (1970), a film where he worked hand in hand with the filmmaker John Huston.
In ‘Men in Black’ (1977) he played José, a man on a stick held up by an alien, acting alongside Will Smith and tommy lee jones.
With the character of Captain Eduardo Villanueva, the Mexican was part of the cast of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’ (2007), starring Johnny Depp.
Other notable Sergio Calderón credits include ‘Duck, You Sucker!’ (1971), where he played a Mexican revolutionary, and ‘Under the Volcano’ (1984), playing a violent Mexican police chief opposite Albert Finney.
